Mother's Day was on Sunday, and I certainly had a lot to be thankful for. Everyone around me made sure I felt appreciated. Rich and Zoe had a hanging basket of flowers and a card waiting for me when I woke up, and Rich made us all breakfast. He also gave me a great book of family friendly recipes from Cooks Illustrated. Even better, he used the book to make me dinner. He also cleaned my car and let me take a nap. My mom and dad sent me a beautiful bouquet of roses, too.

Zoe has been attending a nursery school near our house for two hours, two days a week. She has really been loving it, and hasn't been missing me at all when she's there. She comes home with new words and stories about all her friends. Last week her class held a Mother's Day tea, complete with painted hats, cards, pins, and muffins. The kids sang songs about loving their moms. My friend Sarah took a few pictures of the event.
Last Saturday we stopped by the May Faire at Tidewater School, the Waldorf school that Zoe will attend in September. She got to see Miss Trish (from a program we attended last month at the school) and some of her friends. There were ponies and chickens there, as well as live music and vendors.
Sleep continues to be a major theme in our lives. I reached a new extreme with the sleep deprivation last week, and this week I am going to bed before 9 pm and trying to keep Cal up during the day. The kid will sleep the day away if I let him. He has been doing OK at night for the most part, but there are still nights where he's up every 2 hours or so, and it is brutal. In honor of our sleepless nights, we bought a fancy new mattress. It is wonderful, but it's sort of torturous not to be able to sleep on it for more than a few hours at a time.
